| Beginning in the 1980s, SYRICI has undertaken
international exchange and cooperation with many corporations and
scientific research entities in many countries and regions of the
world. In the 1990s, it entered into substantial cooperation agreements
with large multinational companies. Among them is the pesticide discovery
research and development being conducted in cooperation with Rohm
& Haas and Dow Agrosciences, including the sending of scientists
from each side to the other for short-term exchanges. Through this
cooperation, SYRICI has not only been able to learn new methods and
ways of thinking in pesticide discovery, but has also successfully
developed many new pesticides for which SYRICI holds proprietary intellectual
property rights. This has provided a relatively good foundation for
the development of pesticide discovery work, for both SYRICI and China.
In recent years, with the on-going development and manufacture
of high-tech products, SYRICI products have been selling well overseas.
Over time, many enterprises, including Bayer (the world¡¯s leading
chemical company) and Syngenta (the second largest agrichemical
company), have begun cooperative projects with SYRICI. Currently,
SYRICI pesticide products are being exported to foreign markets
in Europe, North America, South America, Australia, and some Asian
countries. SYRICI has built close relationships with dozens of overseas
companies. Ciba, Dupont, and certain other companies have discussed
with SYRICI the potential for cooperation in the development of
fine chemicals including dyestuffs. The fluorescent brighteners
of Cenkey Chemical Company, a subsidiary of SYRICI, are the product
of choice for many overseas companies such as Unilever, P&G,
Sumitomo, and others. Drug intermediates, marking dyes, and reactive
flame retardants produced by BMD Chemical Company are mainly exported
to the U.S. (Rohm & Haas and others), Korea (CJ and others),
Italy (ACS Dobfar), Germany, and other countries. With sales channels
multiplying, the volume of SYRICI exports is increasing each year.
Total exports in 2000 were valued at 0.8 million USD, growing to
nearly 10 million USD in 2004, representing a 10-fold increase.
