| Major areas of expertise include chemical engineering,
chemical industry metering automation, chemical industry design, environmental
protection, chemical and physical analysis, and others. It has been
certified as having first-class qualifications in engineering consulting
and design, second -class qualifications in environmental protection
engineering consulting and design, as well as qualifications for design
and manufacture of specialized equipment and for conducting contract
projects and chemical industry equipment installation. Primary activity
includes chemical industry technology testing conducted before and
during chemical engineering scale up, process optimization, waste
treatment and research, and engineering design.
Over the past 30 years, the institute has developed many chemical
waste treatment technologies, among which a project called Treating
Phosgene Tail Gas by Catalyzed Hydrolyzation received third place
in the National Invention Award, the project entitled Recycling
Hydrogen and Hydroxybenzene by Liquid Membrane Extraction took second
place in the National Science and Technology Advancement Award,
and the project entitled Granulation and Burning Technology for
Salt-Containing Organic Waste Water was awarded a national patent.
Projects include the Qizhou Comprehensive Water Treatment Project,
liquid waste projects for Jinyuan and Chongqing Ziguang Companies,
and incineration projects for the Red Sun Group and others. With
these technologies as a foundation, the environmental protection
industry has become a new economic focal point of SYRICI, resulting
in a number of social and environmental benefits.
Chemical engineering research at SYRICI, during its 50-year development,
has resulted in many patents and awards, in areas including coupling
separation, liquid flow reaction technology, looping reaction technology,
and rotary flash evaporation drying technology, all of which solve
problems encountered in industrial synthesis.
In recent years, some industrial chemical engineering projects
have been conducted utilizing comprehensive integrated and specialized
technology, including projects at Taifeng Agrichemical and Jinyuan
Agrichemical Engineering, both of which were undertaken solely by
SYRICI. Particularly in the pesticide industry but also in the fine
chemical industry, chemical engineering research at SYRICI has built
a strong reputation.
