The first research area to be established at SYRICI
was in dyestuffs and dyestuff intermediates. During the past 50 years,
research has resulted in many types of dyestuffs, organic pigments,
adjuvants for textile printing and dyeing, and all types of dyestuff
intermediates that are widely used. These efforts have had a positive
effect on the economic development of the nation and have made a great
contribution towards enriching the material lives of the people.

Dyestuff research at SYRICI involves almost every major type of dye
material needed in the printing and dyeing industry. The primary dye
types currently produced by dyestuff factories in China were, for
the most part, developed first at SYRICI. In recent years, to meet
the emerging needs of the textile printing and dyeing industry, SYRICI
was the first to develop the bi-functional reactive dye series widely
used in China for cotton, fur, and silk dyeing and printing; independently
developed a computerized color testing and matching system used worldwide;
successfully developed a digital inkjet ink series used for indoor
and outdoor textiles, paper, plastics, and other basic materials that
has been marketed; conducted research on functional materials and
functional dyes, some of which have been commercialized.
In recent years, SYRICI¡¯s dyestuffs division has actively pursued
technological cooperation with Chinese companies having similar
expertise, resulting in both advancement of the technology and company
development. For instance, reactive dye technology was transferred
to Shanghai Wande Company, organic pigment technology to Anshan
Huifeng Company, and fluorescent brightener technology to Zhejiang
Chuanhua Huayang Company, with each of these projects providing
both economic and social benefits.
