Professor Ronald Grigg from University of Leeds Lectured at SYRICI

2013-12-10

On November 1st, Prof. Ronald Grigg was invited to make academic visits at SYRICI and make two excellent reports for our science researchers. Zhang Lixin, vice chief engineer, hosted the seminar and over 70 related staff attended it.

Ronald Grigg is an organic chemistry professor of University of Leeds. He received his dotoral degree at University of Nottingham. In the 1990’s, he set up molecular innovation diversity and automatic synthesis center, and make himself director of the center. During his career, depending on his excellent academic achievements, he obtained numerous awards at home and aboard, including the Royal Society of Chemistry Tilden and Pedler Lectureships. He was selected as Fellow of the Royal Society.

In the seminar, Prof. Grigg introduced the newest research progress and application situation of palladium catalyze allene with nitrogen-containing compound coupled reaction. This cascade reaction of palladium catalytic possesses better area selection and stereoselectivity, 100% atom utilization, with character of green chemistry and atom economy.

Before and after the seminar, our staff actively discussed academic issues with Prof. Grigg, which could not only elevate their English ability but also raise their sights of science and technology.
