In order to promote the development of SYRICI’s biological career, on May 11th and 12th, Mr. Qiu Dewen, deputy director of plant protection institution of Chinese Academy of Agriculture Sciences, director of MOST experimental unit, was invited to SYRICI to carry on academic exchange.
Qiu Dewen is now a leading figure in the research of microorganism plant immune proteins and gene function. He visited Cornell University from 1995 to 2002 and he was occupied in interaction mechanism and functional study of anaphylactic reaction protein and plants when he worked at EDEN. In 2001 the team he worked for gained Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award. In 2002 he returned to China and up to now, he has developed and registered 2 pesticide products, 1 fertilizer products, which have obtained good field effects and market reputations.
At the conference, Mr. Qiu made an excellent report named Chinese bio-pesticide development and trend, which included a detailed introduction of biological prevention and control current status and trends. He focused on his research direction in the report. After that, Mr. Qiu held talks with Li Bin, president of SYRICI, Xu Weichang, executive vice president and Li Xu, vice president. Both sides reached consensus on deeply technical cooperation and formed a preliminary cooperation proposal.
