In order to improve the catalysis major level, on June 18th, Professor Zhang Xunmu,-director of green catalysis institute of Academy of Chemistry and Analytical Science of Wuhan University, distinguished expert of Recruitment (Program of Global Experts)-, was invited to SYRICI to exchange academically. The meeting was hosted by vice president Li Xu and more than 60 science researchers attended.

At the meeting, Prof. Zhang made a report named Practical Catalystic Hydrogenation and Hydroformylation, in which he introduced some achievements of asymmetric catalysis and asymmetric hydroformylation and he also emphasized his research direction. He discussed with the science researchers about some hot topics and technical details. After the meeting and accompanied by Yan Haisheng, deputy director of SYRICI’s biotechnology laboratory, Prof. Zhang visited the laboratories.

Prof. Zhang Xumu dedicated all the year round to the chemical synthesis methodology research. In the field of asymmetric hydrogenation, asymmetric hydroformylation and asymmetric catalysis, he got significant influence internationally. His research achievement Isomerization Reaction of Eneyne was known as Zhang, his family name, and was included in the international chemistry authority “Name Reactions”. Prof. Zhang was not only the first scholar from Chinese Mainland that had the honor to win Cope Scholar of American Chemical Society, but also the first mainland entrepreneur that made a bio-pharmaceutical company list in America.
