On 23rd July, the 863 project “Cultivation of oil-rich energy microalgae and preparation of biodiesel”, undertook by SYRICI, passed successfully the intermediate inspection organized by Ministry of Science and Technology.

The national 863 project expert inspection team, formed by Ministry of Science and Technology, Henan Academy of Science, BUAA, Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Process Engineering of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Sinopec Corp co., Ltd., Ocean University of China and financial experts, arrived at SYRICI on 23rd July and proceeded the intermediate inspection and evaluation.

Mr Xu Weichang, executive vice-president of SYRICI, and related researchers of the project attend the meeting. At the meeting, Doctor Zhang Biaoming, from biotechnology laboratory, made a report to the expert team about the objectives, research contents, progress status and existing problems. After the debriefing, the experts affirmed the phased objectives of the project and made valuable and constructive suggestions.

In the field of biotechnology during the twelve-five-year plan, SYRICI leaded the 863 project with its topical subject “cultivation of new energy algae and conversion technology of energy product”, which was formed by 3 sub-projects. This project, was one of those three, in which also participated Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics and Tsinghua University, has entered into the pilot scale test.
